Managed Active Directory Link now live.

12-Jan-2009   -

Managed Active Directory Link allows your customers to leverage their existing on-premise Active Directory infrastructure simplifying user management across their on-premise and hosted applications including hosted Exchange, hosted SharePoint, and hosted Office Communications Server 2007.

Using Directory Link, your customers can securely synchronize user log in credentials to enable a single username/password combination to be utilized for each user. If a user’s record changes or an administrator resets a user’s password through Active Directory, the change will synchronize within the hosted Active Directory automatically so that the user can log in to the hosted services using the new password.

REQUIREMENTS

The client-side application must be installed on all domain controllers in the Active Directory forest.

Domain Controller requirements:

  • Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 or later
  • .NET Framework 3.5 with SP1
  • Outbound network connection must be opened on post 443 (SSL) to exchange.managedcompany.com destination host

To synchronize UPNs, the UPN must use a publicly registered domain name (e.g., “domain.local” or simply “domain” cannot be used).
